The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj is about to fill a total of 13 Ombudsperson posts under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants interested in the Ombudsperson position should meet specific eligibility requirements.

  • Domicile: Applicants should be domiciles in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
  • Experience: Applicants should have at least an experience 10 years of experience in Public Administration, Law, Academics, Social Work, or Management.
  • Retired Government Employees: If an applicant is retired from government service, they must have last held a post not below the rank of Additional Secretary or an equivalent position.
  • Political Affiliation: Applicants should not be members of any recognized political party or banned organization.
  • Physical Fitness: Physical fitness is an essential requirement, as the role involves travelling to remote rural locations and conducting field inspections.
  • Age Limit: The upper age limit is 68 years.
  • Local Preference: Preference will be given to residents of the same or nearby district where the vacancy exists.

Steps of application

The application window opens on June 26, 2025. Applicants should visit the official website of the department, which is  www.jkpanchayat.jk.gov.in. The application window shall remain open for 11 days from the start date of the application.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure for the posts will be conducted without a written examination. Instead, a UT-level Selection Committee will conduct interviews with eligible applicants.
